UW Health and Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam have officially reached an agreement to bring the Beaver Dam medical center into the UW Health system of care.

“This is an important milestone,” Carey Gehl, chief strategy officer of UW Health, said in a statement. “We are committed to helping patients receive care as close to home as possible while also creating additional access points to meet the growing demand across UW Health.”

The agreement reflects UW Health efforts to strengthen access to care across southern Wisconsin, particularly in rural and community-based settings.

Marshfield Medical Center–Beaver Dam is a medical campus that includes a hospital, a skilled nursing facility and independent senior living apartments. It operates two assisted living facilities and primary care clinics in Columbus, Horicon and Waupun.

“We are proud of the care our teams have provided to communities across Dodge County, and we’re confident this next chapter will build on that strong foundation,” Dr. Brian Hoerneman, president and CEO of Marshfield Clinic, said in a statement. “We’re committed to ensuring a seamless experience for patients, providers and staff.”

Approximately 425 employees will transition to UW Health.
