For real, I was exhausted Sunday after Saturday night’s Bo and Co.’s epic battle with the Arizona hoopsters. One point! I’d be a wreck. Wait a minute, I AM a wreck.
Charles Barkley is barely articulate but manages to say more than most commentators. He got it right by switching his allegiance to Bucky and drawing up a chalkboard at halftime, with the Badgers down, that read: “Kaminsky, Kaminsky, Kaminsky.” Profound Thought #2: Does Bo know just the right time to be assessed a technical foul?
The Sunday New York Times showed how the Badger basketball team spends its time between games: studying! Yes, Wisconsin produces true student-athletes.
Meanwhile (signaling abrupt change of subject) at The Capital Times, Patricia Schneider punched her first-class ticket on that high-speed, white liberal guilt train. She writes:
Despite some “noise” on white supremacist websites and controversy over public funds spent to register local public workers and students, the conference, which seeks to educate participants about the workings of institutional racism, got off to a smooth start.
Yes, Patricia Schneider, the white privilege conference went according to plan. No fire bombings. No burning crosses. No bullwhips cracking, thank you Neil Young. The Tea Party kept their guns in their holsters. The posse stayed home. The skinheads remained in their bunkers, the rednecks remained in their meth labs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton canceled their flights to Dane County Regional Airport.
The conference went according to plan. Liberals got a spring tune-up of their guilty consciences. They’re feeling mighty pleased with themselves. The Grievance Industry collected another payday. A few months down the road, taxpayers will be stupefied by some race-based proposal for this set-aside or that special dispensation. Some want the Madison schools to apply a racial filter to student discipline. Next, will high school hockey be declared too white-centric?

Janesville sent 12 district teachers and 96 students, paid for by grant money.
“Shopping at a department store without being watched by clerks or going to a barbershop and knowing the barber will know how to cut your hair are just two examples of little things that add up,” a professional diversity enforcer told The Janesville Gazette. Come to think of it, Floyd the Barber WAS white!
News flash: you don’t have to be racist to call the White Privilege Conference pure bunkum — although organizers and attendees would probably ascribe racism to any criticism.
“You want to really do something? Educate a black kid,” said the head of the Congress of Racial Equality. (“Black civil rights leader slams white privilege conference.”) “Give parents and students an opportunity to go to a private, parochial or a good public school.”
The Beatles White Album — more white privilege?
“Liberal policies have destroyed the black family,” by Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke.
These watered-down student codes of conduct sweeping across urban public school systems will not help black parents, kids or communities. Like every other display of liberal empathy, they will have a reverse effect, and it will not be positive.
White privilege may be insidious. Like Mary Burke’s jobs plan, we can’t see it; we just have to believe it. But stupidity is contagious. Political in-breeding prevents alternate ideologies from invigorating the species.
Just imagine if Paul Ryan and Bill Cosby had been invited, or Dr. Ben Carson and Sheriff Clarke. The privileged white people who besieged the State Capitol in 2011 would attempt to shut down the city. No dissension allowed in the People’s Republic! The vuvuzelas have spoken!
Admitted to White Guilt Conference: the above-named reporter who wrote “Record crowd informed, inspired at White Privilege Conference in Madison.” And $230 to $370 lighter in the wallet!
Denied: a more skeptical news outlet, The Wisconsin Reporter.
