Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway announced Thursday she is running for reelection. Rhodes-Conway became mayor in 2019 and is only the city’s second female mayor and first out LGBTQ+ mayor to serve Madison.
She served three terms on the Madison City Council before being elected mayor.
Madison’s 58th mayor, Rhodes-Conway said in a social media post that she has delivered on housing, transit and climate, and “made life better for people by building affordable housing, improving transportation safety and choices, supporting small and local businesses and maintaining excellent city services.”
She said she has more to do, like figuring out the challenge of the growing cost of living.
“I am running again to make sure Madison is ready for the next challenges and the next opportunities,” she said in her statement. “This will not be easy. But I have never been afraid of a fight.”
The election will take place next spring. If reelected, it would be Rhodes-Conway third four-year term.
