Madison mayor asks for smaller budgets in 2027

Rising fuel and other costs have Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway instructing city agencies to find ways to cut their budgets for 2027, the Wisconsin State Journal reported 

According to the report, Rhodes-Conway instructed agencies to anticipate a 2% cut to budgets as inflation and operating costs soared by millions of dollars. Fuel alone will increase by $3 million in 2026 as oil prices have remained high due to the Iran war.
