Nearly 100 people turned out Dec. 8 to hear from Carl E. Gulbrandsen, emeritus managing director of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), and our final Icons in Business speaker of the year. During his 16-year tenure leading WARF, Gulbrandsen was witness to several scientific landmarks. The organization shaped stem cell policy, brought new cancer therapies to market, forwarded faster computer circuitry, funded crop studies, and advanced countless technologies. But it was Gulbrandsen’s leadership that truly helped craft WARF into one of the nation’s most respected investment and technology organizations.
