MILWAUKEE — In Business Madison staff journalist Brittney Kenaston received a Milwaukee Press Club Gridiron Award on May 8 for her coverage of the fusion energy industry in Wisconsin.
Kenaston received a bronze award in the writing category for Best Explanatory Story or Series during the club’s annual Gridiron Awards dinner at the Pfister Hotel.
She was honored for her November 2025 article, “Powering Up the Midwest: Led by Wisconsin companies, fusion energy could fuel economic boom.”
The article chronicled the efforts of Wisconsin companies such as SHINE Technologies of Janesville and Realta Fusion of Madison to build a market for nuclear energy, which can help the state and nation meet its energy needs while providing a clean energy alternative to fossil fuels.
Kenaston said she was grateful for this recognition, and said it’s humbling to be named among so many prolific journalists and photographers from across the state.
“I was fortunate to be able to talk to some incredible minds from the fusion world for this feature, and work alongside photographer Ilana Natasha Bar-Av, who is so talented,” Kenaston said. “Most of all, I appreciate the amazing support system that has gotten me here.”
