The Fitchburg Fire Department held an uncoupling ceremony on Sept. 8 for its new West Fire Station. While similar to a traditional ribbon cutting, an uncoupling ceremony honors the rich traditions and history of the fire service. As part of the ceremony the Fitchburg Fire Department Honor Guard posted the colors, followed by opening remarks from Mayor Jason C. Gonzalez and Fire Chief Joe Pulvermacher. Guests at the ceremony were able to view various emergency apparatus on display and take tours of the new station.
