Hormel Foods to buy Brakebush Brothers for $1.06B

Hormel Foods, the maker of Skippy peanut butter and other brands, Wednesday said it would buy ‌Wisconsin’s Brakebush Brothers for $1.06 billion, according to a report by Reuters.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027.

The move to purchase Brakebush, a family-owned chicken processor in Westfield, would expand Hormel’s protein portfolio.
Protein-rich meals are a growing trend for wellness conscious consumers, the report said.

Brakebush, which generated nearly $1.2 billion in net sales in the past year, sells processed raw and cooked chicken patties, wings and ‌nuggets.
