Amid concerns that the U.S. is running out of munitions due to the war with Iran, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Monday visited with executives and other employees of defense contractor Oshkosh Corp. as part of his nationwide “Arsenal of Freedom” tour.
Hegseth, the nation’s top defense official, told the gathering at Wittman Regional Airport that the Pentagon would continue to cut red tape and allow them to produce military equipment as quickly as possible, according to a report from Wisconsin Public Radio.
The defense secretary also called for passage of the Trump administration’s $1.5 trillion defense budget request because it would help the U.S. keep pace with the growing military capabilities of potential enemies.
“Our adversaries are not sitting idly by — they’re moving fast,” he said. “They’re developing and delivering new capabilities at a rate that should be sobering for every single American.”
Military vehicles built by Oshkosh Defense, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corp., were placed in the airport hangar where Hegseth delivered his remarks.
