The state of Wisconsin wants to make it easier for people to visit state parks.
Gov. Tony Evers announced Thursday the launch of a new partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to make it easier for Wisconsinites to visit state parks.
Residents can order an annual 12-month state park and forest vehicle admission pass when renewing their annual vehicle registration with the DMV.
State park passes were previously issued based on the calendar year. The DNR state park passes are valid for a full 12 months from the date of purchase, like Wisconsin’s annual vehicle registration renewal.
“Nearly 3 million Wisconsin vehicle registrations are renewed online each year,” said WisDOT Secretary Kristina Boardman in a statement. “Through this partnership with the DNR, more people will be reminded and inspired to purchase a state park pass along with their annual plate renewal. We’re uniting state resources so more people can enjoy Wisconsin’s natural resources.”
