A new $58 million facility along McKee Road in Fitchburg will eventually replace Madison’s West YMCA, an aging facility, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

Construction is slated to begin later this year on the YMCA building, which is across from an AMC movie theater.

The facility will be 97,200 square feet, which is almost twice the size of the West YMCA. It will feature two pools, two gymnasiums, a child care center with a 100-kid capacity and more.

It will also feature a 10,000-square-foot Access Community Health Centers clinic.

The project is “the largest community investment in our 140-year history,” Mark Westover, YMCA of Dane County president and CEO, told reporters Tuesday.
