Based on damage assessments, Gov. Tony Evers sent a letter to the U.S. Small Business Administration Wednesday to request a Rapid Disaster Declaration so Winnebago County can receive federal disaster loans from the SBA.
If approved, federal loans would be available for affected Wisconsin homeowners, businesses and nonprofits in Winnebago County.
On July 27, severe storms including one confirmed EF-3 tornado caused widespread damage to homes and businesses, power outages and disruptions to public water systems in Winnebago, Forest, Outagamie and Vilas Counties.
Last month, Evers formally requested a disaster declaration from President Donald Trump in response to the severe storms.
The Trump administration has yet to respond to the governor’s request.
