Canadian energy firm Enbridge said Thursday it hopes to restore its damaged oil and gas pipeline by Tuesday of next week — two weeks after it was damaged by a rolling, unoccupied truck, causing a gas leak, according to a report by Wisconsin Public Radio.
Enbridge originally said it wanted to restore Line 5 in Iron County by Saturday, but updated that timetable yesterday.
The company said about 31,000 barrels, or 1.3 million gallons, of natural gas liquids were released during the Aug. 25 accident.
Wisconsin Department of Health Services officials said air quality remains safe outside the rural area where a home was evacuated following the accident.
Inside the evacuation zone, an estimated 84,000 gallons of natural gas liquids remained as of last weekend.
