If death and taxes are facts of life, so too is the constant volatility of the stock market.
On Thursday, the S&P 500 rose 0.5%, putting it on track for a 10th gain in 11 days, according to the Associated Press. It had just reached an all-time high.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.1%.
Some of the credit in the increases is attributed to Brent Crude oil prices dropping 2.8%.
