DIPPUL cleans up

The first-ever organized DIPPUL event — short for “Drunk in Public Picking up Litter” — took place April 20 on Madison’s near east side. DIPPUL is described as equal parts pub crawl and community service. Participants began the event at an organizer’s home with a meal, before winding their way along various routes from neighborhood bar to neighborhood bar, including Robin Room and Caribou Tavern on East Johnson Street and LJ’s on East Washington Avenue, snagging litter with trash pickers and collecting it in garbage bags along the way.
