The feds have found one culprit of the Cyclospora parasite outbreak causing bouts of intestinal illness, like diarrhea: Taylor Farms lettuce sold to Taco Bell.
The lettuce is cited as just one source of the cyclopsoriasis illness, or “explosive diarrhea parasite” illness. Thousands have become sick with it since May and Taco Bell has pulled the ingredient from locations in five states, Forbes reported.
According to the outlet, Taco Bell and numerous other food chains warned investors about the parasite before the outbreak in SEC filings.
To date, about 7,000 people have been reported to have had the parasite across 34 states. Over half of the infections have been in Michigan.
