The Habitat for Humanity of Dane County ReStore Deconstruction Team was on S. Brooks and Maywood in downtown Madison earlier this week working on five houses and Madison Church Supply (on Park Street). The buildings are being torn down for a new development. The deconstruction crew removed flooring, windows, doors, lighting, cabinets, and more to save it from the landfill and resell it at the two Madison ReStores. This is the largest deconstruction project Habitat has been involved with this year. Habitat Deconstruction Manager Frank Byrne, along with many Habitat volunteers, were onsite. Habitat for Humanity of Dane County’s ReStores sell high-quality, new and used building materials at 25%–75% off retail store prices. All profits are put toward building Habitat for Humanity homes throughout Dane county. (For information on getting your event featured in the IB Gallery, email jason@ibmadison.com.)
