The companies, people and issues shaping business in Madison and the Capital Region.

From July 11-18, the Curiosity Cube — a 22×10-foot, retrofitted shipping container turned mobile science lab — visited Madison to engage students in hands-on learning and prime them for STEM careers. With the rise of STEM careers projected to increase 25% from 2008 to 2018, early engagement has never been more crucial. In fact, nearly four in five students pursuing careers in STEM fields said that they decided to do so in high school or earlier. MilliporeSigma, a global life science company, is bringing these experiences and tools to students who might not otherwise have access, such as those at lower-resourced schools. With a goal of reaching 50,000 students this year, the mobile science lab will visit schools and communities across the U.S. and Canada.
