Following a due diligence process, the city of Monona might be a willing buyer for the Maywood School property, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The former school, located at 902 Nichols Road, is owned by the Monona Grove School District, which is trying to sell it.
City Administrator Neil Stechschulte said in an Aug. 4 letter to the school district the city is in the process of “comprehensive due diligence” to appraise the building’s value and the cost of potential repairs.
The school building is home to a 4-year-old kindergarten and the MG Futures program for older students with disabilities.
No decision has been made about how the building could be used, according to Monona Mayor Nancy Moore.
