Area families celebrated the winter solstice while supporting children’s environmental education at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center on Dec. 15. Participants enjoyed exploring solstice traditions under the stars. Events included a naturalist-led twilight hike on the nature center’s trails, nature crafts for kids, winter solstice stories from around the globe, a festive bonfire and ceremonial burning of the Yule log, and more!
