Stoughton sets city record for net new construction

The city of Stoughton saw a record for net new construction, with a 3.54% preliminary increase for the 2025 budget year, The Stoughton Courier Hub reports. That number ranks No. 8 in Dane County.

Growth has been steady over the last nearly 10 years, with the following percentage increases:

  • 2016 — 1.11%;

  • 2017 — 1.94%;

  • 2018 — 1.75%;

  • 2019 — 1.59%;

  • 2020 — 1.48%;

  • 2021 — 1.84%;

  • 2023 — 2.43%;

  • 2024 — 1.99%; and

  • 2025 — 3.54%.

This year’s preliminary equalized value increase for the city — 4.33% — bodes well for a decrease in taxes, as growth helps keep rates down.
