The Salvation Army of Dane County will host its first annual Weightlifting Charity event on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m.–noon at Madtown Fitness, 1509 Emil St., according to WKOW. The event aims to raise $15,000 to combat homelessness in Greater Madison.

The event will feature guest speakers such as Linda Vakunta, deputy mayor of Madison; Kelli Coleman, CEO of GND Strength and Society; and Dan Pasholk, owner of Madtown Fitness. There will be a silent auction and raffle tickets for prizes, as well as tacos from AzTec Taqueria Food Truck.

All proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army’s programs for housing assistance and meals for shelters.
