Saunaday, a new bathhouse, is set to open in July at 315 S. Blount St. in Madison, according to The Capital Times. The new business is the first sauna of its kind in the area.
Owners Roshelle and Jason Ritzenthaler say that the bathhouse, located on the first floor of The Edge apartment building at the corner of Blount and Williamson streets, will feature a four-foot-deep cold plunge pool. They say other area cold plunge pools are not as deep and do not as easily allow submersion, and theirs will also have a wheelchair lift and transfer walls to enhance accessibility.
The facility will also include locker rooms and a shower room with rainfall showerheads and salt scrubs. A central communal space will house the cold plunge pool, a relaxation area with lounge chairs and three hot soaking tubs. There will also be three public sauna rooms — two Finnish-style saunas made from red cedar and aspen, respectively, and one modeled after Middle Eastern and North African hammams, a style of steam bath. The latter sauna will feature a belly stone, a marble top stone warmed for guests to sit on.
Saunaday will also offer two private rooms, each with their own sauna, ice bath and red light therapy lounge, for couples or small groups to reserve; an infrared sauna room; and a grab-and-go area with drinks and snacks.
The Ritzenthalers plan for the business to be open six days per week from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
