Meta plans to invest over $1 billion to build a 700,000 square-foot data center campus in Beaver Dam, according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
The plan went public during a press conference on Wednesday, with Meta and city and state leaders holding a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony.
Work is already underway on the more than 500-acre site.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. said the data center will open in 2027 and that the project will bring over 1,000 construction jobs and 100 operations jobs to the area.
Residents said the process to build the data center campus has lacked transparency during its approval process.
