Dane County Circuit Court Judge Jacob Frost on Wednesday granted a temporary stay of his ruling earlier this month that struck down most of Act 10, a 2011 law that restricted collective bargaining rights for many of Wisconsin’s public employees, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Frost on Dec. 2 ruled that several provisions of Act 10 were unconstitutional and unenforceable.
His latest order will pause that ruling temporarily, with a stay remaining in place while he considers a motion that seeks to place his initial ruling on hold while the state Legislature makes an appeal. The case is likely to go before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which has a 4–3 liberal majority.
