Broadway shows are a hit, especially this season.
The latest Broadway season is its highest-grossing season ever, with $1.9 billion in ticket sales, according to the Broadway League and reported by CNBC.
“Even in a challenging economic environment, Broadway remained notably on par with last season, reflecting both the resilience of this industry and the connection audiences feel to these productions,” Jason Laks, president of the Broadway League, said in a statement.
It represents a 3.5% increase in grosses over last season. Attendance increased 1.8% and the average ticket price rose 1.7%.
