Boys & Girls Clubs to honor Michael Johnson with Tuesday candlelight vigil

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County announced on social media Tuesday it will host a candlelight vigil for the organization’s late president and CEO, Michael Johnson, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday 

“The sudden loss of our President & CEO, Michael Johnson, has reminded us how deeply this community loved him,” the social media post said. “Tonight, we invite you to come together with us to grieve, to remember and to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of a man who gave everything for the kids and families of Dane County.” 

The vigil will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center parking lot at 5215 Verona Road in Fitchburg.  

Parking will be available in the Thermo Fisher Scientific lot next door.

“Bring your memories, bring your love and let’s hold one another up just as Michael always held us up.” 

The McKenzie Regional Workforce Center is an extension of the BGCDC, offering training in the skilled trades to youth. Johnson led the fundraising campaign to raise $35 million for the center.
