The annual Bikes for Kids Wisconsin bike application season opens Thursday (today) and runs through Dec. 15, the organization said.

Bikes for Kids Wisconsin is a nonprofit that works to increase bike transportation for underserved populations. Nonprofits that work with individuals who are financially challenged, schools, tribal entities and municipalities are invited to apply to receive bicycles in the spring of next year through a bike giveaway program.

Various organizations will select the children and adults who need transportation for school, employment, food access and other essential services.

The application is available online at the Bikes for Kids website.

In 2026, 38 organizations received bicycles in 14 Wisconsin counties and more than 1,500 bicycles were distributed to children and adults in underserved communities.

To date, the organization has distributed nearly 15,800 bicycles throughout the state of Wisconsin to increase the use of bicycle-based transportation.
