The Between The Waves Music Conference and Festival 2018 launch party was held March 29 at Yahara Bay Distillers. Cooper Talbot, host of Her Infinite Variety on 89.9 WORT FM, started out the night with a DJ set that included music from Madison-area musicians, followed by a presentation from Broadjam CEO MAMAs President and BTW Founder Roy Elkins that included a recap of BTW 2017 and a preview of what’s in store for BTW 2018. Elkins announced that conference presenters will include drummer, engineer, and producer Butch Vig; DJ and producer DJ Pain 1; arts lawyer Elizabeth Russell; talent manager Emily White; and digital audio software expert Ray Williams. Festival events will include a hip-hop showcase led by Dogs of War and DJ Mando, a metal showcase led by Lords of the Trident, a songwriter showcase featuring Madison’s finest songwriters, an installment of Chick Singer Night, and a musical comedy showcase. Madison pop artist Anna Wang performed after the presentation and, after a door prize giveaway, folk/americana artist Dana Perry closed the night. The Between The Waves Conference and Festival provides musicians the knowledge to pursue, the expertise to implement, and the tools to guide their journey toward earning a living making music and have a good time doing it. As the Midwest’s premier event geared toward independent musicians and others interested in music creation, collaboration, performance, production, distribution, publishing, or licensing, Between The Waves Conference and Festival brings together musicians, educators, and music industry leaders for an immersive experience built on inspiration, instruction, networking, and support.
