To mark its 75th anniversary, the Madison Community Foundation is awarding 12 major gifts totaling nearly $1 million to the community during the coming year. The nonprofit recipients of each grant were chosen to reflect many of the Madison area’s most unique natural and cultural assets, including its children and families, history and heritage, learning and education, arts and culture, environment, and more. The second grant, Back to the Beach, was awarded to the Clean Lakes Alliance to catalog the needs of all 25 Madison-area beaches, launch a conceptual beach design contest at Warner Beach, and support the Shoreline Swim, Loop the Lake bike ride, and other activities at Olbrich Park on July 29. The grant was announced on June 20 at a press conference at Warner Beach. (For information on getting your event featured in the IB Gallery, email jason@ibmadison.com.)
