A multi-state lawsuit accusing egg producers of working together to raise prices over almost three years will see Wisconsin receive 2 million eggs as part of a settlement, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The settlement was announced on Tuesday, and the eggs will make their way to food banks and community organizations across the state.
The lawsuit includes 17 states. Egg producers in the suit will have to provide a total of 53 million eggs to the states and pay $3.3 million in fines.
“Companies must not make goods less affordable by improperly manipulating prices,” Attorney General Josh Kaul said in a statement. “There must be accountability for that kind of conduct.”
