Marquette University announced this week that an anonymous donor has committed a $20 million planned gift, which helps establish a scholarship endowment that will benefit students for generations.

The gift, which came during National First-Generation College Celebration Week, will primarily support first-generation students in Marquette’s College of Business Administration.

“This is a major moment for Marquette University, for our enduring mission and for future students who will become the first in their families to attend college,” Marquette President Kimo Ah Yun said in a press release.

“I remember what it was like trying to carve my own path,” said Ah Yun, who was the first in his own family to attend college. “I had the will to succeed, but I didn’t know the way. I’m sincerely touched to know that one of our generous supporters will help create a hope-filled future for students who demonstrate tremendous potential but need financial assistance to realize it.”
