Sue Anderson, who served as regional president of SSM Health in Wisconsin for the past four years, left the organization at the end of July and Kyle Nondorf has been appointed interim regional president.
According to SSM Health, Anderson stepped down to pursue a career opportunity outside of healthcare administration.
Nondorf will oversee SSM Health’s strategy and operations across the state, and he will do so with unionized nurses in Madison.
In June, the union election of nurses at SSM Health’s St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison was certified by the National Labor Relations Board.
After stating their concerns about compensation, staffing and other issues, nurses at the hospital voted 511-63 to unionize with the Service Employees International Union of Wisconsin in June.
However, after the vote, SSM Health, the parent company of St. Mary’s Hospital, filed objections to the vote with the National Labor Relations Board.
In a decision released on July 22, the NLRB said it found the objections to be insufficient and SSM nurses now have the legal authority to unionize.
Meanwhile, Nondorf is now responsible for seven hospitals, 70 clinics, and more than 14,000 employees for SSM Health in Wisconsin.
Nondorf also continues supporting SSM Health’s Oklahoma and Mid-Missouri regions as regional chief operating officer.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health and sport sciences from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Health Administration and Policy degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
