The Universities of Wisconsin is considering the elimination of a requirement that college applicants in Wisconsin submit an ACT or SAT score as part of the admissions process.
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal, the proposed policy would not direct UW system schools to ignore ACT or SAT scores, they simply would not be a requirement.
The requirement was temporarily suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic because prospective students could not take in-person exams.
The universities cite preliminary research that shows factors such as high school credits, curriculum and course level are better predictors of academic achievement.
