Abingdon Health Thursday officially opened its new, $1.8 million manufacturing hub at the company’s facility at University Research Park in Madison.
“This milestone deepens our commitment to Madison and will enable Abingdon Health USA to contribute further to Wisconsin’s thriving biohealth ecosystem, as well as serve our growing customer base across the U.S.,” Max Duckworth, director of Abingdon Health USA, said in prepared remarks at the event.
The opening, attended by local officials such as Congressman Mark Pocan and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, continues the UK-based company’s expansion and investment in its U.S. operations.
Abingdon Health is a global manufacturer and provider of regulatory services for rapid diagnostic tests.
Founded in 2008, the company is headquartered in York, England, with laboratories in Doncaster, England, and laboratories and commercial offices in Madison.
“The opening of our Madison manufacturing hub is a significant milestone for Abingdon Health USA that enables us to offer a more comprehensive and integrated, end-to-end CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) solution for our U.S. customers, paving the way for continued growth in the biggest med-tech market in the world,” Chris Yates, president of Abingdon Health USA and chief commercial officer of Abingdon Health, said in a press release.
The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. authorized up to $370,000 in performance-based state income tax credits to support the project, which is expected to create 46 new jobs over the next three years.
