Aaron Olver, the managing director of University Research Park since 2014, is about to begin a medical leave because he will soon undergo a stem cell transplant to treat leukemia.

At this point, it is unknown how long the medical leave will last, but Olver said he has been communicating about his condition through a CaringBridge page.

“I’ll be gone for at least three months, but I don’t know how much longer it’ll take me to get back,” he told In Business Madison on Thursday. “I’ve heard that it’s pretty variable. It depends on complications and side effects.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, leukemia is a broad term for several different cancers of the blood and the blood-forming tissues of the body.
