Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps was selected as the state’s official brewery for celebrating the nation’s semiquincentennial.

The brewery — the third largest in the state by barrels produced — was chosen by Wisconsin’s Semiquincentennial Commission. It will brew its staple lager Stay Golden as the celebratory beer.

“Stay Golden has always been our nod to some of the great beers of the past, including Kingsbury Pale Ale, which has deep roots in my family’s brewing history,” Grant Pauly, founder and brewmaster of 3 Sheeps Brewing, said in a statement. “My great-grandfather served as president, my grandfather was treasurer and my great-uncle was brewmaster at Kingsbury after Prohibition.”

Stay Golden’s label and packaging will be redesigned with red, white and blue artwork and copy celebrating the country’s birthday.
