A $27 million investment from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation will advance four high-impact research initiatives at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the university announced Tuesday.
The investment comes as federal agencies and industry partners increase investments in these strategically important fields.
WARF said it will help UW–Madison strengthen its research leadership, diversify its funding portfolio and pursue new technologies and startup companies.
The initiatives also are designed to strengthen connections with industry and government partners and position UW–Madison researchers to compete for emerging federal and private-sector opportunities.
“These initiatives build on areas where UW–Madison already has exceptional expertise and momentum,” Dorota Brzezińska, vice chancellor for research, said in a press release. “With WARF’s support, we can accelerate discovery, strengthen our leadership, attract new partnerships and expand the impact of UW–Madison research for Wisconsin and beyond.”
