Come hear a panel of alumni in public service or running for office give us information about the issues and challenges of their constituencies.
See how your fellow alumni are helping shape the future of our community, and have a chance to ask them questions!
Our panel discussion will be moderated by Eric Franke (LGM 14), News Anchor at WISC-TV.
Our Panel:
Michael Schumacher (LGM 14) District 18 Alder, was elected to the Madison Common Council in 2007, was born and raised in Germany, and earned his PhD of educational administration from UW-Madison. He’s an adjunct faculty member in the Business department at Edgewood College and owns a consulting firm.
Shiva Bidar-Seilaff (LGM 14) District 5 Alder, was elected to the Madison Common Council in 2009, was born in Iran, raised in Valencia, Spain, and came to the U.S. as a graduate student. She married a Madison native and settled in Madison, received the YWCA Woman of Distinction award in 2005, and is the Director of Community Partnerships at UW Health.
Steve King (LGM 16) District 7 Alder, was elected to the Madison Common Council in 2009, has his Bachelor’s in economics and international studies from Portland State University and his master’s in political science from UW-Madison. He’s the Manager of learning and development at Meriter Hospital and is interested in crime and public safety, sustainable economic development, and dealing with effects of growth, particularly traffic and infrastructure.
Jason Punzel (LGM 13), candidate for State Treasurer announced candidacy in August of 2009, and wants the state treasurer to provide independent advice to political leaders on economic policy and financial issues. He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Managerial Economics/Finance, and is a principal in White Cap Real Estate.

We will serve a Gourmet Sandwich Buffet - An assortment of pre-made gourmet sandwiches with artisanal breads, cheeses, deli meats and condiments; house-made soup; seasonal salad; pickles; kettle chips; and house-made cookies. |
