Business Sustainability Awards

Nearly 40 projects vied for top honors in the inaugural Business Sustainability Awards, presented by In Business magazine in partnership with Sustain Dane.

The award program was designed to celebrate the Madison business community's commitment to ecological responsibility and stewardship. Winners in eight categories were selected by a panel of judges from outside of the Greater Madison influence: Wyllys Mann, Director, Green Business Development Center, Delta Institute; Tom Osdoba, Managing Director, Center for Sustainable Business Practices, University of Oregon; Andrew Pace, Founder/Owner, Green Design Center in Waukesha.

The cocktail reception was held at the Crowne Plaza on April 6, 2010 and featured presentations from Jim Hubing, Director of Henry Vilas Zoo, and Tera Johnson, CEO of Tera's Whey. The award presentation followed, recognizing winners in eight categories:

  • Eco-Product or Service of the Year: Sergenian's Floor Coverings
  • Sustainable Workforce Development of the Year: docuScan
  • Ecosystem Protection Initiative of the Year: Madison Golf and Development Group, LLC
  • Eco-Efficiency Initiative of the Year: designCraft Advertising
  • Sustainable Small Business of the Year: Standard Imaging, Inc.
  • Sustainable Large Business of the Year: Metcalfe's Market
  • Sustainable Community of the Year: City of Middleton
